Abstract


A FOLKLORISTIC STUDY ON THE SILK AND SERICULTURE OF ALANYA

Silkworm, whose leaves are the only food source of silkworm, is used as an auxiliary agricultural arm, covering all stages from the cultivation of mulberry tree to the production of raw silk and even into various products, but it is actually an extremely ancient profession and art. Silk is a very valuable raw material that can be easily dyed, soft and durable. The name of the Silk Road by modern researchers should be the result of the importance of silk in terms of humanity and civilization. This art is deeply rooted and the roots of the Asian continent for thousands of years alive today one of the major centers of Alanya, which is linked to the territory of Turkey is Antalya province. Alanya is a geography with suitable climatic conditions for the cultivation of silkworm. Silkworm and silk weaving The traditional culture, social life and local economy of Alanya occupied a significant place in the past, and the importance of silk and silkworm is still partially continuing. The article study was prepared by supporting the information obtained in the field research and study visits on various dates in Alanya with the literature sources and includes the folklore description and analysis of the silk and silkworm culture in the region.
