Abstract

THE TERM “DELİL” ON DİVRİĞİLİ VELİ DEDE’S POEM

The “Veli” penname was widely used among poets, but two poets who were known as Divriğili Veli Dede and Veli Baba, they called some of their poems as “evidence”. “Delil” also means mentor-guide as a literary term beyond words its known meaning, witness, proof ect. In addition to the types of poetry commonly used in Turkish mystic literature, Divriğili Veli Dede or Veli Baba (Suggesting that they are the same person who create the same poem one by one.) In Alevi-Bektashi tradition, it was seen that they recorded their poems under the name of “evidence”. When the poems they call “evidence” are examined, it is seen that the emphasis is on the need for a mentor-guide via reaching the God. Although the other poems are written without any definition, this is seen only in the poems called “evidence”. It is possible to interpret these poems as desiring to be kept in a special place.
